Default The mechanism of the paranormal?

Hello all,

Here is a link that has a different bend on the paranormal.

What do you think?

I think the trick for them is not thinking.

Well, I'm pretty sure at least that their explanation of Fatima is bunk, since the apparent "dancing" of the sun can be explained by well known weather phenomena. And if the e.t.s really did exist and were monitering us constantly, what would be the chances that they would allow a site like that to exist? That such a theory even exists is then the greatest evidence of its falsity.

Could you please name at least one type of weather phenomena that could give the illusion to 70,000 individuals that the sun is moving in a circle and then drops as if it were falling?

Here's one possible explanation. These kinds of luminous phenomena can acount for the apparent "dancing" and rays of color.

Technically the earth orbiting the sun gives just that illusion daily which is why so many astronomers have got themselves into trouble in the past, but that’s probably not what you meant. Mirages is the answer you’re looking for. I’m not familiar with the specific incident, but it seems quite consistent with a temperature inversion or the like which would suddenly move a sufficient mass of air to shift the apparent position of the sun relatively rapidly. This should help …

Of course "true believers" might prefer to follow another explanation, but there you are. From the Ouranos site,

"Suprisingly I was later banned from the Raelian board...I guess I was blasphemous."

Eek, too weird for the Raelians.

The mirage explanation doesn't wash, an illusion that happens from warm air from the ground cause the illusion to appear near the ground. This vision was seen near high noon or one o'clock, in any case the sun was pretty high in the sky. So the illusions from inversion layers that cause mirages at or near the horizon or even on the ground aren't going to cause a mirage at or near a 90 degree angle that's nowhere near the ground. Those types of mirages are very blurry, you can see the hot air moving as wavy images. There are also 70,000 people looking at this from different positions. The mirages that are described at your link require that every one look in the same direction. At least the type of mirages that I’ve seen disappear as soon as you change your position.

That may be so, but it doesn't account for 70,000 people seeing the sun dance or fall. This is not an event that is witnessing a UFO, this is the sun that they see move in a circle and then drop.

From the website ...

Some of the art work is computer generated.
I think the thing I find the eeriest, is that the author claims first-hand ET contact to be able to provide his detailed knowledge of how the ET's are exploring the universe, and yet his explanation might come directly from a Star Trek episode or an science fiction pulp novel. Not one sliver of verifiable scientific breakthrough, or even the minutest piece of hard evidence, maybe an unknown compound, an artifact. Oh well.

So, of course the most reasonable explanation is that aliens used mosquito-shaped robots to inject all those people with mind-altering nano-devices, as an experiment. Of course!
