Flood Argument: Need Help
I've given up trying to make this guy quit being such a frigging moron. Please help me.
Utopia-Politics.com forums I've done everything I can think of. I'm almost to the point of tears with his denseness. It's to the point where I think he's just TRYING to be absurd. |

There's no point, Calzaer, he's beyond reason. He has no knowledge of basic logic, and no understanding of scientific methods other than what he's gleaned from texts devoted to upholding YEC and other creationsim crap without regard to the truth or the obivous.
I hate to see people out there like that. They live in tiny, tiny little worlds, and refuse to acknowledge anything outside of their carefully constructed Babble-induced reality. And they vote and breed, too! |

Just when I thought I knew what all the hub-bub was about, I connect two statements as follows:

This question was posed last November by a Creationist here.
Here are some of the discussions given by members here (By the way, at the end, this guy was honest enough to give up.) http://www.iidb.org/vbb/showthread.p...ighlight=flood =================================== This was the favorite response by me to this thread (with some alterations): Actually, I usually do not like to debate the ark issue because it is easy to use MAGIC as an explanation. *God magically flew two/six of each kind of animals to the ark and then back where they came from under a magical force field -- ie no bones were left along the way as the animals were transplanted back to their "correct" habitat. *There was special climate control on the ark (cool for polar bears/penguins, hot for iguana, etc). *There was special food for each type of animal that required it -- euchalyptis for koala bears, bamboo for the panda bears, et. *There was no excrement problem * There was enough ROOM for all the known species of animals/ God lightened their weight so they would not sink the boat. * He innoculated all the humans and animals from all the nasty germs around. (Afterall germs had to survive here too). *God made the animals love one another so there were no vicious fights like one would see in the animals natural habitat (like the jungle). In essence, this was really like a Disney movie, with just as much magic (but I think it omits the cute animal thing -- especially the animals talking.) All other physical problems were solved magically: Water was transported/beamed down (like in Star Trek) from other planets or even OTHER dimensions so there would be enough volume to flood the entire earth. The laws of physics was changed so that rainbows did not exist until after the flood. Noah and his descendants just "forgot" to mention the dinosaurs that existed before the Flood. No problem as humans also forgot to mention the other miraculous details mention above of how God allowed the creatures to live peaceably side by side (ie the lions did not try to eat Noah, etc). All the EARLIER stories of floods in primitive myths and the lack of records of ANY flood in some of the oldest known civilizations (the Chinese and Egyptians!) who lived in arid regions were due either to forgetfulness or their sin from not being Christians. So -- here it is: It's all so EASILY explained. Actually, although you see the Flood is easily reconciled. These other stories in the Bible are not: · The earth was created before the sun, moon, and other planets and stars. (Earth: Day 1 Sun, Moon, Stars: Day 4) · The earth is flat · The earth is stationary in space and the sun and the rest of the planets revolve around it. ·All mental diseases were attributed to DEMONIC origin, as opposed to natural causes. Why do I say the above stories are not easily reconciled to reality? Because if these events happened as described in the Bible, it would have been an even BIGGER MIRACLE for God to have WIPED OUT ALL SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE OF THESE OCCURENCES THAN THE EVENT ITSELF (ie of the earth being flat during biblical times, located in the center of the universe, and that the sun was stopped to allow Joshua an extra day of fighting. Not to mention how demons seemed to disappear after doctors started looking for natural causes -- like germs. (Ever wonder why germs were never mentioned in the Bible??? You can't say all germs are from Satan either, as some germs are beneficial -- like yeast and bacteria found in yogurt.) Sojourner =========================================== This also had some interesting responses. http://www.iidb.org/vbb/showthread.p...threadid=43028 [PS Are you aware you can do a search on a topic and find earlier debates??] Good luck. |
