I don't see Mary mentioned anywhere in that verse do you?
You guys were all Catholics until the sixteen century. Then YOU changed the rules of the game, not the Catholics. Laymen couldn't even own bibles before that, it was forbidden (The first guy who translated it into English paid with his life for his trouble). At least have the decency to admit that you changed the rules you had about the bible, Mary, Purgatory, Limbo, et al and that you edited big chunks out of the bible from your original Catholic position. And stop pretending that it's the Catholic's who changed from you. Unless Luther and Martyr knew each other your boasts are hollow. And none of this nonsense is anything more than a fairytale anyway. There is no Mary ever Virgin, but there is no Jesus the Christ either. |

And yes Jesus did exist. Whether he was God or not is another issue, but Jesus Christ the person, leader, historical figure did in fact walk the earth 2000 years ago. |

Yes, and Yes.
"Does praying to Mary make you rich or famous?"
"Does praying to Jesus make you rich or famous?" "Scotland is a dark land overrun by homosexuals." |

And Amos, i showed some of your quotes about Mary to some other Catholics and they even consider your views cultic. You deny Jesus as even being God. You can't even really be called Catholic. |

Nobody is "complaining about Mary." Protestants simply make her no more or less than she was, an innocent, willing soul would have done anything she could for God, whom God chose to bear his son in the flesh. She was particularly blessed and worthy of particular mention.
What we are "complaining" about is surepticiously declaring 500 years later that she is "Queen of heaven" making 100 times more statues than Paul, turning her into an eternal virgin when we have three references to Jesus' brothers and sisters, making her own mother a virgin 1800 years later, (as I recall), not one single mention of her in any letter of Peter, Paul, James or any other letter in the NT, and basically removing any point of reference except what the Pope says is so. Criminy. Rad |

Don't forget to add putting Mary as the mediator between us and Jesus Rad. Catholics put her close to the authority and holiness of Jesus ( or in Amos' case, puts her above him ).

LMFAO! My money's on Magus55, *if* he can remain non-plussed by Amos' world-class mysticism. He's got that fundie-fire in his belly for sure.
Of course, Radorth has that Black-Knight-from-Monty-Python-And-The-Holy-Grail tenacity, so he may yet be the upset victor in this Duel of Dogma. |

There aren't any cpoies of the bible that date from before the Catholic Church (fourth century), except maybe a flake or two about the size of your thumb.
The Catholics say that, except for those nasty heritics gnostics and that lot that there were only good catholics back to Jesus (who left no evidence behind that he was even here so forget the boast that he was an actual person--there's no way you could know that) There aren't any copies of the Protestant bible that date before the sixteenth century. 4 th Century....16 th Century. Get it. The changes come from the Protestants. Never mind your hebrew (no NT was originally written in Hebrew. They are in poor Greek) or your Greek or whatever. The 300's CE come before the 1500's CE there is no way to cook those numbers. It's well over a thousand years difference.:banghead: |
