Arrow Democrats - Dennis Kucinich is now pro-choice and running for president...

What do you think of him?

Here is his official campaign site.

Out of the Democrats running I think he is one of the best (along with Sharpton).

I don't like sharpton. He just seems like someone who only has complaints and not solutions.

Wildy and I heard him on a radio show complaining that the democratic voters are not giving black politicians in office a free ride every election. He was mainly made that his ultra-liberal friends like McKinney lost to liberal candidates. His argument was that because Mckinney was in Washington and Black she diserved to be rubber stamped by the voters in her district. Of course at the same time he was complaining that white republicans were getting rubber stamped. McKinney showed her true nature when she blamed her loss on Jews.

Actually, that was McKinney's father who said that.

However, a large number of pro-Ariel Sharon Israel types were donating money to her opponent in the primary, because McKinney dared to speak out in support of the Palestinians. The pro-Israel lobby wields an incredible amount of power in the US government (I believe it is one of the 2nd or 3rd largest lobbies in Washington).

When it all comes down to it, Sharpton was still trying to play the race card, despite the fact that McKinney, a black woman, was beaten by another black woman.

I like Sharpton because he has progressive views on important political issues (I don't care what his personality is like - that means nothing to me).

However, this thread was supposed to be about Kucinich, the guy from Ohio. In a recent poll just after Kucinich joined the race he was already at 2%. I think he has potential.

I haven't read his site thoroughly, I just glanced through his positions on Workers Rights and Civil Liberties, he seems decent as far as potentially mainstream politicians go. If I continue to like what I read about him (I'm tired and sick right now) I could easily imagine being moved to vote for a guy like that if only he could be nominated (and if groups like the Greens could get their act together to organize as a major pressure/organizational group within the Dem Party maybe people like him could one day be viable). I'd vote for Sharpton, though he stands aproximately 0% of getting nominated (I would love to get to feel chagrined for having said that later).

If Kucinich wants the help of Green Party activists then he should formally request it. However, if he just expects people to support him because he is a Democrat then he won't get any help with that kind of an attitude problem. It is as simple as that, and I know many GP activists/members.

Kreiger would you seriously consider voting democrat?
Aren't you a Marxist or some sort of socialist?

For obvious Chomskyesque reasons, I won't be voting democrat.

If the green party continues to take away the democrat's votes, maybe the democrats will start talking about having instant runoff voting? (Or be forced back to the actual left.)

Concerning democrats being on the actual left, so far it isn't happening. How many national legislators have spoken out against the war? How many have mentioned IRV? Corporate media? The disappearing unions? How about that ridiculous 99 to nothing vote concerning the pledge?

My point is, if you are democrat, you are part of "the Establishment" and you toe the line. Any democrat who attempts to do anything truly "leftists" would be destroyed by his fellows. No more campaign contributions, career over. A socialist should be aware of what a waste of time voting democrat would be.

But voting for the Greens, that won't be a waste of time. Nah....
