But as for the question at hand -- God having consentual sex with a woman of marriable age wouldn't legally be rape. Whether it's "right" or not is subjective. However, the Bible doesn't actually say anything about sex with Mary. If modern doctors can impregnante a woman without having sex with her, surely God can do the same thing I think this topic has moved outside of the realm of this forum (and it wasn't really inside to start with). Off to Misc Religion Discussions. |

Luke 1:26 And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, Luke 1:27 To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name [was] Mary. Luke 1:28 And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, [thou that art] highly favoured, the Lord [is] with thee: blessed [art] thou among women. Luke 1:29 And when she saw [him], she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be. "What the...??" Luke 1:30 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. Luke 1:31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. (he didn't exactly say please) Luke 1:32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: Luke 1:33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. Luke 1:34 Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? "You gotta be kidding!!" Luke 1:35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshdow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God. Luke 1:36 And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren. Luke 1:37 For with God nothing shall be impossible. "Holy Ghost?? I'm getting hit on by ghosts now??" Luke 1:38 And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her. "Oh, If it's God, then I'm all for it!" |

12 to 13 was a verry common marriage age in many civilizations. It is also the age of consent in many areas, although there are additional statutory limitations regarding age differences.
For some reason I disagree with this. It reminds me of paying taxes in a place where one used to live, as Joseph did, or go to a sensus even if the town had since become a ghost town as Nazareth was in those days. A good solution would be to quit reading bibles if you do not understand them. Of course if you insist and want to spend the rest of your days agonizing about the purpose life in relation to your own existence, you are welcome to it. I will never stop you from reading it nor will I stop you from agonizing about the purpose of life. Mary was conceived by the HS has nothing to do with sex, nor with physical birth, nor with rape nor with age. Mary was 38 when She was conceived which is a metaphysical truth and the Pieta by Michelangelo indicates this. The identical physical image of Jesus and Mary in the Pieta should tell all bible thumpers that communion with the saints is needed to serve as poetry between the prose of the bible. We must look at that before we rape our own Mary and spend the rest of our days in repentance of it (remember my post here about the Baptist church being proud to repent at the foot of the cross until they die nonetheless). The reason why Jesus and Mary are identical is because Mary (woman) was "taken from man" and was never created nor formed to have an existence of being. Just read it in Gen.2. Ah! But it's not rape when done in god's name, especially according to the Crusaders . If god was ever charged in court though I doubt the courtroom would be big enough to contain the paper that'll list all the charges.

The Bible does not recognize the concept of rape as a crime against women. Where it's regarded as a crime at all, it's a crime against the woman's husband, fiancee or father (which is why it's OK to rape a young single woman if you pay compensation to the father and force her to marry you).
In Mary's case, the Bible says that Joseph didn't know what was going on until after the conception. So, even though Mary has no rights under Biblical law, the rights of Joseph were clearly violated. |
