One other thing, would it be possible to perpetrate such a hoax? The Russians would certainly have yelled foul if we tried to fake it. They certainly had the means to receive the raw signals from our spacecraft and by triangulating on that signal, they would be able to tell if they came from the moon or not. They also had the motivation to expose such a hoax.

OK, fine, we sent an unmanned space vehicle to the moon, orbited the moon, sent a previously recorded and elaborately done video back to earth "to fool those Rusky bastiges" who independently monitored EVERYTHING, then bring that vehicle back to earth. Hell, might as well REALLY put a man on the moon if you gotta go to all that trouble.

Beside, we're talking about "governemet workers" here. They can't keep ANYTHING secret... except for that alien they have holed up in Roswell.

It just spent the day with 5 in-laws who saw the Fox show. They all now believe we didn't land on the Moon. I never have thought of these people as idiots. They are pretty average.

This Fox show must have been pretty misleading. Should this sort of sensationalism be illegal? Or do people just need to better understand that such sensationalism exists?

Didn't Fox have a show on a few years ago about a supposed alien autopsy? You should have asked them if they watched that and believed that too?

I started a thread on this topic here:

<a href="http://iidb.org/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=57&t=000653" target="_blank">http://iidb.org/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=57&t=000653</a>

I'm relieved that the last post said that NASA is no longer going to spend all that money to try to convince the "twinkies" that the moon landing was real.

More on the Moon "hoax" and Fox's part in it. Fox needs to run a sequel where they clean up the mess they've made. This whole thing just shows just how much responsibility the media shoulders and how Fox is willing to piss on that responsibility for ratings/cash. (Fox news is another example)

Question

If we didn't go to the moon, what did we bounce a laser off of in my physics class in undergrad school? If it wasn't the "Laser Ranging Retroreflector (LRRR)".

I have totally given up on the woman I mentioned above. We had a big falling out. ! found it almost impossible to hold my tongue around her when she spoke such 'shit'

We are both library technicians and as library techicians we should be able the authority of a website. However this woman's reason flies out the window when it comes to the moon hoax.

Besides beleiving that the moon-landing was a hoax she also finds it impossible to gasp the fact that I don't believe in God. She says things like 'Tou do believe in God, you just don't realise you do'.

So I have given up on her, she can have her delusions.

EDIT TO ADD - I also learnt recently that she doesn't believe in evolution because she refuses to believe 'we came from monkeys'. I have tried to evplain that that is not what evolution is about but she just dismisses me. The strange thing is that she isn't really a fundie as we know fundies. She doesn't go to church, doesn't read the Bible etc. She says she knows there is a God but she doesn't really know if he is really the Christian God.

If it wasn't the "LRRR" then it had to have been an alien space craft.
