No I wasn't.
No sex in heaven. Matthew 22 30At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven. Christians have a healthy view towards sex, within the context of marriage. Sex within the marriage is exciting. My husband and I don't have a negative view of it. |

Dying Lord: But if I don't leave my lands to the Church, I will surely go to Hell!
Archbishop Blackadder: Hell? You? Never! . . . DL: I've committed adultery! AB: Who hasn't? DL: Over a thousand times! AB: Well it is the middle ages. . . . DL: With my own mother. . . . AB: Pauses, thinks Well let's take this Heaven thing. It's not all what it's cracked up to be. Heaven is for people who like the things that go on in Heaven . . . singing . . . talking to God . . . watering pot-plants. . . . DL: Growns in disgust AB: Whereas Hell is for people who like the other sorts of things . . . rape . . . pillage . . . torture . . . those "sorts of areas!" DL: Excited You mean if I go to Hell I will spend an eternity of rape, pillage and torture?!! AB: YeeeeUP! DL: Then I will leave my lands to the King, and may God treat me like the wretched soul I am and send me straight to Hell! --Blackadder the First It is all a matter of perspective. . . . --J.D. |

I've often wondered why people think hell will be a Disneyland kind of place where they get to do the sinful things they like. Hell will be a place of torment. You don't get to do the sinful "fun" things, you burn in the lake of fire. But suit yourselves. If you want to believe that, okay by me.

You and Magus aren't making heaven out to be what the term usually implies. If it's as Rational BAC says, which would make sense, being a reward for a good life (however that is defined) then I can see it as "heaven".
The thought of even a remote possibility of having only these two choices, the christian heaven or the christian hell, for eternity, makes me long more and more for a scientific breakthrough in anti-aging/immortality. At least I have choices here in the current life...and if I'm right and there is no afterlife, so much the better. |

Unfortunately, given the unsubstantiated mythmaking bandied about, it is rather on topic.
Satire provides a mirror, and some dislike the reflection. For those who seem to have a propensity to make judgements not based on anything other than what they really want to be true, whilst avoiding issues and questions that challenge such wants, I can only advise: "Try, dear Zykov, to cultivate a sense of humor." --J.D. |
