The irony is that what is referred to as hell in the bible is mistakenly assumed as the promise of eternal salvation by many of its readers. On the other hand, this same thing happened to the children of Israel who were also lost in the 'saved sinner complex' and therefore also died. So nothing is new about this but when will they ever realize this? |

amos, you didnt aswer the conquistador question. do you think that they did the right thing. but what is this mythology that the one true religion has to be true to?
i dont think i understand where you are coming from. are you arguing that america will decline because its secular or because its protestant? is freedom of religion a bad thing then? and what about your statement that amos said The irony is that what is referred to as hell in the bible is mistakenly assumed as the promise of eternal salvation by many of its readers. On the other hand, this same thing happened to the children of Israel who were also lost in the 'saved sinner complex' and therefore also died. i dont understand this analogy. i was under the impression that israel didnt have the whole savior idea. after all that is uniquely christian, or so i thought. what do you mean died, israel is presently a country? and what do you mean by that first sentence. do you think that there is no promise of eternal salvation? |

I completely agree that it has done more harm than good. I suspect humanity as a whole would be much happier if we hadn't been weighed down with religious superstition (which is redundant, come to think of it). |

The FICTIONAL "Catholic Cheuch"
Look; "the Catholic Church" is a human/Platonic non-existent FICTION which has *never done* ANYthing. Every good or wicked thing which has been done to other human beings has been done by single human beings, or by sets of human beings acting in concert as "committees" or what-have-you.
A single human being, that whimsical old man named John Paul 2 at Vatican City, keeps alleging that there is a pure, holy, impeccable "RomanCatholic Church" which has NEVER done any evil; that (only) human men (and he carefully added ) "and women" have done evil/have sinned. A nice bunch of baloney. THERE ISN'T ANY "CHURCH"! There *are* human beings acting & asserting. The primary dirty lie that needs cutting-down is that there is a "CHURCH" apart from the group of humanbeings who compose "It". |
