The discovery channel that is found on my tv screen seems quite good, maybe, its showing only those selective good programs of the past.

I like how The Learning Channel appears to primarily consist of collections of security tapes of hold ups and shoplifting, police videos and car chases, people redecorating, and occasionally a bit of pseudo science. It's great.

I like the junkyard wars / robotica shows they have on TLC where they build stuff. And the medical detectives shows they have are interesting.
I find some of their documentaries are kind of boring and repetitive, where they state the obvious just so they can make the show take up a whole hour. Shows on cops and security camera footage have been around for sooo long I think I've seen every possible robbery and police chase scenario by now (we'll I've seen a lot of 'em anyway). Oh well, it's better than most other junk on TV even if only marginally so. |

Well, I can't remember them ever misinforming me grossly about engineering or military history... They should maybe stick to that, seeing as they do it rather well.
I like Discovery Channel a lot... seeing as I love programs about, yep, you got it, engineering and military history. |

One of the best series, IMO, was the History of the Bible series. It was presented from many different points of view, and suggested unbiased theories/opinions on how the Bible came into existance... Of course you saw the reaction I got over on CF when I tried to discuss the historical progression on the writing of the Bible.. tsk..tsk... I miss some of those idiotic respsonses sometimes...NOT |

That is if you think the "Cardiff Giant" is supposed to be a life sized depiction of one.
Did the show really say that? If so, are all those drawings and figurines depicting itty-bitty people and creatures evidence that there really are itty-bitty people and creatures? |

I think it was on the discovery channel, not to sure though- but the show was about strange 'designs' in nature. Kept saying how the tongue on a gecko was a marvell of the design of nature, etc. how this or that was 'designed' perfectly... blah blah. i almost puked.

Mageth, not only did they use the Cardiff GIant (as well as the Nazca figures) as "evidence" they actually - get this - cited Von Daniken's Chariots of the Gods at one point. The lowest point of the program, however, was the story about some wildwest era prospectors who supposedly found the bones of giants - and the fact that the bones no longer exist is evidence of a conspiracy.

Me thinks the bones of giants were dinosaur bones. I mean after all, you think an old prospector could tell the difference between a dinosaur bone and a giants bones? I doubt it. I also believe that dragon stories arose from ancient peoples finding dinosaur fossils and their imaginations taking off from there. For all they knew the animal that left the bones had only been dead for a few years, in fact, I'll bet that is just what they thought.

I usually stick to the Science Channel. Recently they have been running Connections quite a bit (my favorite show). The old Paleoworld shows are fun too.
Other than that, the Game Show Network has a strange appeal. |
