W A S H I N G T O N, Oct. 21 — An inscription on a burial artifact that was recently discovered in Israel appears to provide the oldest archaeological evidence of Jesus Christ, according to an expert who dates it to three decades after the crucifixion.

If that dating is correct that would put the age of the corpse at about 65 or 70 years of age. While I am sure that there were people that managed to live to that age I am sure it was quite rare.

I think we will see alot of doubt placed on this finding in the coming months.

On a side note: The Catholics do not like to discuss the siblings of Jesus as that reflects poorly on Mary and her virginal status. I have even heard devout fundy Catholics argue that those siblings were the offspring of another wife of Joseph. Wacky stuff.

BTW, I've got an tape showing the full autopsy of James, brother of Jesus. Available for just $19.95 in the SecWeb store. I got it from a dealer, who got it from a mortician, who asked to remain anonymous.

My apologies as I did not realize the topic was in another section. I would not have posted it here if I had seen it. I found the topic interesting and it has been quite awhile since I have been here. Time to catch up on my reading. Thank you for responding.

Actually, it wasn't rare. The much shorter average life expectancy back then compared to now was largely a result of high rates of infant and child mortality. Take five 80 year olds and five dead babies and you get a 40 year average life span. Those fortunate enough to survive childhood were often able to live to a ripe old age. Not as often as now, but often enough so that it was far from rare.

It should be pointed out that rare does not mean impossible. Sounds like a case of probable vs. possible.
