disturbing support of Judge Moore's agenda
On the 16th, there will be a rally in Atlanta to support Judge Moore. Those who are planning the rally are a part of this group Click on call to action and read their agenda. They honestly believe that the formation of the US was based on the Xian religion and they are organizing to break down what's left of the wall that separates church/state.

From their link urging us to help Judge Moore in his heroic efforts:

Oh, I wish I could attend this rally. I'd prefer to go as a vendor hawking American Flag Bible Covers (made in China, of course). I figure if people are determined to be this ignorant and gullible, atheists should feel no more morally constrained from preying on them than their own shepherds do. |

Maybe you could hawk your patriotic bible flag covers in your own state. There's a rally in ATL to correspond with the one in Alabama. Maybe there's one in a city near you.
I'm constantly amazed when conservative Xians who now have such a strong influence in the federal government portray themselves as victims. |

You know, it's because of news items like this that I find myself thinking: I hate the South! And I'm a native born southerner! I hate The South because of the three Rs; racism, religious fanaticism and reactionary politics. There are times when I think it might have been better to let the South secede. The remaining United States would have been a much better country, and the South could have gone on being a Third World banana republic, proud, poor and ignorant. Oh, wait, it's that way now! Only the likely fate of the black slaves tempers my asessment. Actually, the area where I live, North Carolina's Research Triangle, is one of the few places in the South that I find even tolerable, mainly because it is so un-Southern in character (high-tech, fairly liberal social enviromnent, lots of universities, etc.)

Because out side the south there is never a problem with oppressive religion. *cough* Ohio *cough* Pennsylvania *cough* Utah Because we all know that reactionary politics only happens in the South. *cough* Washington State *cough* Indianapolis Quote:
I seriously think that you have bought into a Yankee media perception of the south and haven't realized that there are many non-southern states worse off then we are. |

Hey Mike. The purpose of this thread was not to bash the South and fyi, I'm a native of the Northeast, NYC metro and I love the South. I've lived in Raleigh for 8 years; it was one of the most progressive places I've ever lived. ATL is one of the most racially diverse cities in the world and it's led by African Americans. If you're referring to rural areas, I doubt that any US state is free from the problems you mention in its smaller towns and rural areas where things tend to change more slowly, so how about a little less bigotry toward the South. I find that kind of bigotry to be just as offensive as any other kind.

Fantastic bargains! The ones with Uncle Sam saying "I WANT YOU - TO IGNORE THE CONSTITUTION." Since the dumb bastards are already convinced it is the ACLU that is trying to subvert the Constitution, it shouldn't be too hard to convince them that the Lawd wants them to buy merchandise advertising His political viewpoint. Oh, the delicious irony of it. I guess I'll have to listen to my local radio wingnut to find out if there's going to be a rally in my area. |
