Default Which "side" do you take in the Palistine/Israel conflict?

I can't figure it out. Or maybe I have. In general, the right takes Israel's side, and the left takes Palestine's side. But both seem to have good evidence to support their position, and when one side debunks the other, the other rebuts just as convincingly.

SO WHY THE HELL ISN'T ANYONE BLAMING THE BRITISH, LIKE THEY SHOULD BE?!

After all, didn't the British promise the land to the Palestinians who were already living there, and then turn around and promise the exact same land to the recently persecuted Jews? Why does the Left talk about "brutal" Israeli occupation, which may be true, and the Right talk about "brutal" Palistinian suicide bombers, which is probably also true, when it's NEITHER SIDE'S FAULT?!

This whole situation drives me nuts...

I take the "BOTH SIDES ARE RETARDED CHILDREN WHO NEED TO STOP FIGHTING OVER REAL ESTATE AND GET A FUCKING LIFE" side.

I have no respect for either causes, they need to stop being so freakin religious and just get along.

Actually, we debated this my sophmore year of HS (1998)... I had to endorse Israel... but I sided with the Palestinians more... that was before the suicide bombing started. Now I hate both.

I don't support either side. Who cares what religion your neighbour is or who lives where, surely living a peaceful life is far more important than killing one another.

I'm going to have to side with the Phoenicians here -- after all, their god promised them that land long before either of the groups living there today were promised by theirs...

I take neither side. They are both guilty of serious errors of judgement. Any settlement should throw out Sharon AND Arafat. They are both criminals. As for the citizens of the countries I think they would all be happy for this mess to be cleaned up. My .02.

There was a tense peace for a very long time, a no-mans land set up and everything.

then the israelis started to settle in the no mans land, and then went as far as to invade palestinian land to settle in a specific area.

the israelis even went as far as to set up concentration camps for the palestinians, how quickly some ppl forget their own history.

Personally, I side with the palestinians, they may have suicide bombers, but only out of desperation, the US has given israel too strong an army while palestine is lucky it has small explosives and the occasional firearm. BOTH sides are guilty of targeting civilians.

And israel could end this whole thing quite quickly if they just learned that invading other ppl's teritory is going to piss ppl off, so don't do it!

Exactly! I further think we should stay the hell out of their affairs too. Israel may be an important political ally, but they haven't been the best ally, plus we take all kinds of crap for supporting them. I mean, they've got a viable military and are as strong as anyone else in the region, so let's leave them alone and lend them fend for themselves.

I take sides with Israel but I'm not really "against" the other side. I've already proposed an option for ending the conflict myself that gives the Palestinians a state if they accept it.

As far as the people go, I sympathize with the Palestinians. I know there has to be a statute of limitations somewhere, where people just have to get over the past, but I would sure as hell feel bitter if my people were displaced so that another group of people could move in... and that group was financed and armed by the western world in order to keep us beaten back.

As far as the governments, both sides are a bunch of vicious, bumbling nutcases. I agree with those who say that both Sharon and Afarat (and their assorted croonies) would need to go in order for any real peace to take hold.
