Slip slidin' away
From Article VI of the Constitution of the Unites States
"but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States." From President George W. Bush ". . . we need common sense judges who understand that our rights were derived from God. Those are the kind of judges I intend to put on the bench." At his inauguration when asked to swear to uphold the Constitution, Bush responded, "The what?" |

Here (about 1/3 the way down the page) is one source. Never "misunderestimate" the lever of religious ferver in the US. We may have a Constitution that states we have freedom of religion, but we are at a stage in US history where it is being touted as freedom of MY religion.

::shudders:: Scary stuff.
I should not be surprised. Bush has gotten some new friends that might have a bad influence on him. Quote:

I heard it on the news at first - in the coffee room at work I think. I was shocked.
Here are some sources. Apparently in keeping with Bush senior's view of atheists.

I wonder how many politicians could pass a college-level essay test on constitutional law? (That Dubya and Ashcroft couldn't goes without saying.)
