It's nothing against you in particular, but I have noticed a tendency on this board to try to tar and feather Christianity on the basis of the worst backwater parodies of their positions. No serious theist is going to defend Christianity on the grounds of what an idle, unlearned believer says, so I really don't see the point in even bringing it up. We are in total agreement that there are silly Christians, but the question we should be debating is whether Christianity is silly. Parading out all the silly Christians beliefs will get us no where. I'm not really prepared to defend all the unorthdox, heretical, or simply uninformed beliefs of every other Christian. |

luvluv Yes a plan for our whole existence. I've conceded there is a plan. God defintely knows we are coming and has good plans for us. That doesn't mean that He acts alone to bring us into existence. The scary fact is He's left a lot of this to us.
I prefer lurking but I was curious. If he knows we are coming and he has a plan, Where is the free will unless there is the chance that even if he knows we are coming..we don't. luvluv I always assume in these debates that we are dealing with the studied, considered opinions of both schools of thought. Yes, I've heard unstudied Christians say all kinds of odd things. I've heard unread atheists say really odd things too, but I see no reason to bring that into this forum which I consider to be a place for serious discussion. I certainly do not want nor expect to defend the uneducated, but does god reconize the different levels of education and are there classes of heaven for the more educated christians. I was perhaps at one time a better educated christian that I am an atheist...but I am trying. My questions are an honest effort to learn your opinion. I have much to learn about this free will arguement. Please excuse any formatting errors. |
