Exclamation Vanderzyden the Broadbrushed

Vanderzyden has an obsession with the question "why is there anything rather than nothing?", and moans and groans that evolutionary biology does not give a convincing answer.

But to me, his obsession with that question reminds me of the Buddha's comment that if someone shoots you with an arrow, your first priority is to pull it out, and not trying to resolve any question related to the arrow's origins, like what it is made of and who shot it.

But to be able to come up with reasonable answers to grand questions, one must have a lot of details straight -- and that is something that VZ seems to think is unnecessary.

But not getting these details straight is like building a house on weak foundations -- one storm and it goes.

Vanderzyden walks into a kitchen and presents a 2x4 to the chef.

V) I want you to cook a meal for me with this.
C) What do I look like a carpenter?

Vanderzyden walks into a laboratory and presents the principle of ID to the scientist.

V) I want you to make a scientific theory out of this.
S) What do I look like, a philosopher?

Poor Vanderzyden just doesn’t get it.

Actually, this is a legimitate question - probably the most difficult to grasp intuitively (the question itself, not any possible answer).

But this certainly isn't the reponsibility of biology to answer.

BTW, if I were shot with an arrow, the first task would be to bind the wound. But I doubt I'd sleep terribly comfortably afterward if I didn't know who shot it.
