Tuesday15th Atheists Meetups Worldwide:Agenda-discuss a Church&State Sep rally in DC
Go here now!
http://atheists.meetup.com/ Just reminding everyone that its time to RSVP your local Atheists Meetups which are happening in dozens of cities and towns around the world. On the agenda (agendas are not strict or formal) is a item that was my submission that is to find out from the atheists at the meetup if any of them would be interested in attending a pro Church and State separation rally in Washington DC and if anyone would be interested in helping to organize it. This rally would be open to anyone that is FOR separation of church and state, regardless of if they are religious or non religious themselves. Some of us have tentatively discussed planning such an event for the late summer or early fall of 2004 before it gets to cold and to be timed with the 2004 election campaigning season which will be in high gear then. We of course would prefer to have various organizations around the country endorse it and be willing to help organize it and foot the bill for sound and state equipment, insurance liablity etc. So if you are interested in tossing such an idea around or if you just want to chew the fat with your area atheists and have fun too please go to your local atheists meetups at 7pm on Tuesday. Don't forget to RSVP because if less than 5 RSVP to a meetup its canceled. Also, if you are interested in having your own atheists meetup notebook and being able to submit and vote on agenda items you do so by joining meetup plus. Thanks! MNG P.S. Speaking of church and state separation and elections I'd just like to say GO HOWARD DEAN! '...I don't want to listen to the fundamentalist preachers anymore...' meetup stories
P.S.
If anyone has any good atheist meetup stories, please tell them! One atheist meetup I hosted in Wash DC we had to change the location at the last moment due to 18 inches of snow in DC and one of the venue was whimpy and hadn't reopened yet. On top of that it was Code Orange and people in DC and around the nation were being urged to get out and buy duct tape and plastic sheets. As a joke kind of I brought duct tape and plastic sheets to the meeting. Part way through the meetup the duct tape must have rolled out to the aisle and the waiter stopped to pick it up. Ummm, is this your Duct Tape? .....he asked our group. We had to laugh. He must have thought we were up to something. LOL. |

Atheists.Meetup.com
Hooray for the Atheists Meetup!
Maryland Nature Girl first told me about the MeetUp site in October. When I registered my email address (it's free and spam-free), I was the 206th atheist ion the MeetUp list. As of last night, 3,640 people had signed up; as of this morning, the number swelled to 3,653. IIDB has thousands of members. Wouldn't any of you like to meet up with each other? Go now! To http://atheists.meetup.com and enter your zip code. You'll be directed to the closest city. I live in South Jersey and will be attending the Philadelphia Atheists MeetUp tonight at 7pm at Xando Cosi, 15th & Locust, with about 10 other godless folks. Atheists Meet Up is not affiliated with any group. All you have to do is sign up, show up, and meet up. email me directly for info: jrael@atheists.org |

(Laurie) Not enough people had registered in my area, so the meeting was cancelled. So I'm inputting a neighboring town's Zip code till I find one with the minimum five registrees. Good idea, this meet-up!
