Post Which is Which?

As there are so many factions among Christians, I interpret this as simply being differences of interpretation in the doctrine. However, some of these doctrines are so completely different that I am lead to wonder whether or not these can be of the same Genre. In considering Mormon, Quaker, Protestant & Catholic, are all of these considered Christian? <img src="confused.gif" border="0">

A lot of fundamentalist Protestants don't consider Catholics to be Christians. A lot of them don't consider Mormons or JW's to be Christians, either.

Then there's Oneness Pentecostals, who think the Christians who believe in the trinity are pagan polytheists.

The Seventh-Day Adventists think those who observe the Sabbath on Sunday a pagan commandment breakers.

It kinda makes it easier for me. I tell them that once they sort out their differences, I'll be able to give Christianity some serious consideration.

There's certainly a lot of heresy where the TRUTH™ is concerned...

Hi FoxholeAtheist:
All the thousands of opposing Christian denominations and churches each teach that their bible interpretations are confirmed by the Holy Ghost.
By the same token, each must believe that the all of the others are false, because they mistakenly teach that the Holy Ghost has confirmed their doctrines.
Picking the right church sounds like playing the lottery.
I guess you just have to let the Holy Ghost tell you which church to pick:-)

I was taught that those that believed in JC as the savior of Man were Xians; a simplistic definition. According to me, all the sects you mentioned are Xian.

Y'know, I've wondered about that for a while. I've heard people say "No, I'm not Catholic, I'm a Christian." Which is funny when you consider that for centuries, if you said "Christendom", you meant Catholics...

So I've wondered why some Protestants do that. Is it to belittle Catholics and imply that they are damned?

One day, a much more simple answer came to mind:

"Protestantism" is too hard to spell.

Okay, okay, I know that was unkind. I have a lot of unkind thoughts. But it did amuse me for a while.
