Thumbs down Objective: Landover Baptist Shutdown

Quote:
The Internet was created by the United States of America - a Christian nation - and should not be used to spread anti-Christian, secular, or non-Christian propaganda and hatespeech. This is our Internet, and we should exercise our position as its owners and as the guardians of civilization to stop its misuse.
Check out the rest of the speech by this raving loony here.

Umm...you do realize Landover Baptist is a rather clever spoof site, don't you?

And - perhaps more importantly - so is "Objective: Landover Baptist Shutdown".

It's more fun if you make your own controversy.

*snicker*

If you look at the "staff" bios, you'll find that the "staff" are the same for Landover and Shut-Down-Landover.

Gawd, you're right. I didn't even notice that was the "Landover Baptist Shutdown" site. I thought Godot was calling for a shutdown of Landover Baptist!

That's what I get for posting at 3 am.

First time I came across Landover was in my first couple of days here. I didn't peg it as parody right off since folks in rural southern Alberta share similar if not quite as extreme views.

As for "Objective:" site, reading the staff bio's indicates it to be parody as well:
Quote:
Pastor Rosas of the ecumenical Catholic Outreach Baptist Ministries has helped us greatly in bringing awareness of the anti-Christian bigotry on our Internet to the Catholic Hispanic community. Though most of the Pastor's flock are too poor to own computers, they are still a valuable asset for raising the awareness of more affluent Christians.
But then, it is hosted at http://crossspot.com/, which for all intents and purposes appears to be legit. Someone care to explain that one to me?

They are? I'm not seeing that.

Shut Down Landover seems like it's 'for-real', to me.

Nope, it's a very clever parody site.

I'm open to that possibility, but I couldn't see where the staff were the same.

How do you know it's a parody?

Evidently www.crossspot.com don't know it is, right, or they wouldn't host it?

I believe that LBS has already moved around from host to host a number of times, its hoax-factor having been discovered. But I am surprised that crossspot hasn't caught it yet.
