Unhappy Stressed Out Athiests

Looks like George Barna has a new poll out.

The more deeply committed a person is to evangelical Christianity, the more at ease they report being with their life circumstances...On the other hand, individuals who are indifferent or hostile to all faith systems are notably less relaxed and fulfilled with life.
What does everyone think?

I personally believe I would be very depressed if I were an evangelical christian.

Translation: Unbelievers aren't really happy, they just think they are.

What a load of horsepucky.

From the web site:

The non-faith segment placed highest among the five niches in claiming to be stressed out (42%), concerned about the future (68%) and lonely (14%).
I can't speak for anyone else here, but I'm stressed out and worried for the future because it looks like we're on the fast track toward an intolerant war-mongering theocracy. (I so miss the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.) I'm lonely because it's not socially acceptable for me to talk about my world view - and I live in the state with the highest percentage of non-believers in the

I don't have the cuddly teddy bear of faith to clutch to me, but I still wouldn't have it any other way.

They can say anything they want, but when they need something done that requires a solid grounding in reality, science and logic who do they come to? People who live in the natural world: a-theists.

Cool

Remember the old saying, "Ignorance is bliss." The fundys are just wallowing in their blissful ignorance and not thinking about the future of mankind and our world. I can see where the polls would reflect this. As with any statistical data, the results are only as good as the aquired input data.

My personal life is much less stressed now that I have stopped believing. I'm a little more upset about stuff like politics and disturbing things that people do to other people around the world, but I am much more at ease in my own personal life.

Woah!! Isn't being concerned about the future a GOOD thing? Anyways, I don't consider myself stressed out but I am concerned about the future and don't consider myself lonely (what's bad about that anyways?). I'm definately more happy as an atheist than I was as a Christian since Xianity comes with a nice package of silly guilt complexes.

These folks believe that god gave humans dominion over the earth and if species go extinct so be it. Many also believe armageddon is at our doorstep so it doesn't matter what's coming 50 years down the road.

Since becoming agnostic, I've been more worried about issues in the real world, but I'm still happy as a person, mainly because I think I've found myself through agnosticism.

I dont need a poll to tell me whether or not I'm happy.

Question

Excerpt from <a href="http://www.christianitytoday.com/ct/2002/009/1.32.html" target="_blank">Here.</a>

Quote:
"At the risk of sounding like an alarmist, I believe the Church in America has no more than five years—perhaps even less—to turn itself around and begin to affect the culture, rather than be affected by it. Because…our central moral and spiritual trends are engulfed in a downward spiral, we have no more than a half-decade to turn things around."
Sounds like Mr. Barna is a stakeholder in his own dogma. Could this influence his research?

Not sure, but before I'd put too much value in his statistics, I'd like to see another research group conduct the same survey.
