People you admire,emulate, etc.
I admire Michael Newdow for protesting Under God, and Sinead O'Connor for having the bravery to rip up the pic of the Pope on NATIONAL TV.
Who is YOUR secular hero? |

Isaac Asimov (deceased) His brilliance was unquestioned. His writing production was awe-inspiring. His limericks were naughty. Jesse Ventura (why not?) John Shelby Spong (not really secular, but still cool) Retired Anglican Bishop of Newark and liberal Christian scholar/author. Christopher Reeve (I've heard he's agnostic, plus a strong advocate of stem cell research.) Steve Allen (deceased) A funny and insightful man. Earl Doherty (lay Bible scholar and leading proponent of Jesus Myth thesis) I think Earl's name will eventually be ranked with those of top historical and Biblical scholars. |

I don't know how secular Admiral Grace Hopper was, but she is my inspiration as a computer programmer.

In modern media, Joss Whedon, for spreading the atheist/agnostic meme through popular television and having the balls to answer "No." when asked, "Is there a god?".
