Hebrews 12:Shaken,not stirred
In Hebrews 12, the author states that God will "Shake" Heaven and Earth--presumabely to destroy them and then start over--yet here we have another case of false quotation on behalf of the NT writers....
His voice shook the earth at that time, but now he has promised, "I will once more shake not only earth but heaven." 27 That phrase, "once more," points to (the) removal of shaken, created things, so that what is unshaken may remain. The reference seems to be here a reference to the Apocalypse. However in the original passage it is quite clear this is not the meaning at all: Haggai 2:6-7 "For this is what the LORD Almighty says: In just a little while I will again shake the heavens and the earth. I will shake the oceans and the dry land, too. I will shake all the nations, and the treasures of all the nations will come to this Temple. I will fill this place with glory, says the LORD Almighty." Here it seems to be referring to the Nations having all their treasures perhaps plundered and being brought to the temple. Yet another misqoute used as Christian propoganda...sigh... |
