I've invited God over for Super Bowl parties, Baby Jesus Day, Halloween and my birthday. The jerk never showed.

He asked me to the spring formal and then at the last minute he dropped me and asked Patsy Klein instead! That is why I don't believe in god. |

Many of the same reasons.
- no evidence of god - understanding where many myths of gods came from and why (lack of scientific explanation for things like weather, ect.) - ocham's razor. A universe with a god is more unecessarily complicated than a universe without a god. That's aboot it! Have a great day. Jen |

Supernatural beings in general:
1) lack of evidence If you mean the Traditional Yahweh-LORD-Allah God (TYLAG) then my reasons are a combination of (1) and: 2) Problem of Evil suggests that TYLAG is at least highly improbable 3) The condtradictory mess that claims to be TYLAG's Word |

First, you may want to check out the Atheist 'Testimony' thread, but please read the guidelines for posting / replying in that forum first. Other threads that may provide some insight include: To all atheists who used to be Christians... and the relaively brief How did you come to atheism? (Same rules apply; they're all in the same forum.)
If you're more interested in the anylitical / intellectual answers as to why one would be atheist, I refer you to the Internet Infidels library section of modern writings on nontheism, and the library generally. Of course, there's plenty of good stuff in the EoG forum, and in the other top forums... and plenty of garbage, too. But either way, it'll give you a much more complete answer than what anyone could say in one thread. |

It's been said before, but think of the reasons you don't believe in Thor or Vishnu. Those are the same reasons I don't believe in the Christian God. |

No evidence.
I converted at age 15, staunch believer for 20 years and after all that still no evidence. Since dropping out of religion I've talked to dozens former believers and they all say the same thing: you can believe all you want, but there ain't nobody out there. Wishing there were doesn't make it true. |
