Jimmy, you may want to check out my thread<a href="http://iidb.org/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=45&t=001231" target="_blank"> here</a> for more speculation about who the shooter is, and why they are doing what they are doing. I think I will win that lunch bet, but collecting from you at this distance will be problematic. If you're right, lunch is on me, but you'll have the same problem collecting that I will.

PS, I also think it could be some of our own home grown religious nuts, but that is less likely than the al Qaida link. Time will tell.

From <a href="http://www.cnn.com/2002/US/South/10/15/sniper.shootings/index.html" target="_blank">this account, </a> we have this; "Three witnesses in the vicinity of two of the Washington area sniper shootings saw an olive-skinned man in a white van, law enforcement sources said Tuesday."

This story says that three witnesses from TWO different shootings described the man as olive skinned. So the idea that it may be someone of middle eastern or Latino descent doesn’t rest on the one discredited witness. I am open to the idea that it could be anyone at this point, we will see if and when they catch the shooter(s) who it is and what the motivation is. Provided they are caught alive and talk about it that is.

The pisser is this. I just saw a report on TV at the gym. This shooter has managed to do what the 9/11 attacks couldn't. Literally shutdown DC area businesses. Nobody there. I do believe that that was an al Queda goal, no?
