How about "Axis of Evil?" That's far more historically accurate .

The Vatican argument is that Christianity's fundamental role in shaping European culture should be acknowledged in what is destined to become the EU's key document.

Good thinking, once we are at it let's go over Israels constitution and include some praise of Germany's fundamental role in shaping jewish culture.

Oh yes, John Paul, christianity sure did shape European culture.

Christianity caused five centuries of ignorance in Europe

Christianity supported the Divine Rights of Kings so that they could rule with brutal theological powers.

Christianity bled the wealth out of Europe for centuries in order to build huge and weird edifaces to the organized crime families who were the popes.

Christianity split in two during the Reformation which led to internecine wars and destruction.

Christian anti-semitism was a main current of support for the Nazi regime and aided the Nazis in all the occupied countries. Catholic France, Poland and Romania gleefully gave up their Jews to the camps.

I must stop, I am shaking.

Good points sullster:
I don't really see what the pope hopes to accomplish by mentioining that stuff in the european constitution. Considering this another good reason not to include christianities' "accomplishments" in the european constitution would be to keep it portable.
