Thumbs down Mayor Ray Nagin Prays for Lower Murder Rate.

I think old Ray has been hitting the crack pipe, either that or our mayor is seriously deluded if he thinks <a href="http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&ncid=378&e=3&cid=378&u=/ibsys/20021216/lo_wdsu/1423340" target="_blank">his prayers</a> will help. I won't be voting for him in the next election, just like I didn't in the previous.

Sad.

Nagin has sent a letter to more than 500 clergy members saying, "We have tried lots of police techniques resulting in mixed results. It is time to call on a higher power."
For the right price, the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi will fly in some meditators who will mediatate on sacred Hindu syllables. He claims that this will warp space time in such a way as to decrease the murder rate.

Prayer doesn't help these people until after they murder somebody, then it works wonders, as Charles Colson will tell you.

Yes. Then can be flown in and dropped without parachutes because after all they are flying Yogis.

We had a drought around here a few summers ago.

After several weeks, some people gathered at the downtown bandstand to pray for rain. It rained a little about 3 days later. The rain had been in the long-range forecast before they prayed and the precipitaion was not significant enough to make a dent in the drought.

But guess what the headline was in the local paper.

"Prayers are Answered!"

<a href="http://www.new-orleans.la.us/home/mayorsOffice/biography.php" target="_blank"> Official Biography of Mayor C. Ray Nagin </a>

The first mayor of New Orleans elected in the 21st century, Mayor C. Ray Nagin ushers in a new era of visionary leadership with his dynamic business-like approach to city government. Formerly the Vice-President/General Manager of Southeast Louisiana cable system Cox Communications, Mayor Nagin holds a track record of turnaround innovation yielding unprecedented results.
Since I'd never heard of Nagin, I had to go see if my favorite city of sin had elected a white mayor. They had not. To me, New Orleans has always been like a little town with lots of people.

With what has to be one of, if not the most interesting state in the Union for recent political-power history, I found this refreshing...

As the 51st mayor of New Orleans, he is the first mayor in nearly seven decades to serve without holding a previous elected office. Mayor Nagin has no ties to any political organization and because of that, considers himself a true public servant and not a career politician.

SK: Is my favorite Governor Edwin "[I can't lose this election unless] I'm caught in bed with a dead girl or a live boy" Edwards out of Federal Prison yet?

God I miss that place!

Na, they shipped Edwards off for good for racketeering and extortion. He got a 10 year sentence but will most likely die in prison, he's already 75. The best part is that he's out of appeals.
