-Biff

okay, this is my conclusion of what you are trying to say

you say,

1) Science likes hiding under Vanity and other conventions.

2) a Theory is really Fact, even though its called Theory

3)Bonbons are not Equivalent to Bonobos.

Am I right?

Was I addressing this question to you?
If you put it on a public forum you have left it open to everyone. The is a Personal Message key at the bottom of each blurb

We do not have the concept of the " sky superman" god
Oh really? Then your God doesn't have a heaven? He doesn't do miracles? Does he just content himself with getting his followers to blow themselves and a bunch of innocent women and children up?

You are making alot of irrational deductions into the essense of my being. Well I keep asking you for rational proof and you keep avoiding it. The only rational deduction one can make is that your "essence" is a fake.

Aatayyab, I have your answer! The world is such a shitty place because people dont bother to use the brains they are born with and accept the word of another as truth without question. Sometimes that word tells them to oppress, hurt and kill. They think they know the truth, but they know nothing.

I have to disagree with you, Biff. A bonbon, surely, is a small, round toffee covered in fine sugar.

Now, River. You claim to be an educated person so I'm sure you are being disingenuous when you quibble over the meaning of the word 'theory'. But just in case there's an eensy weensie chance that you really don't know ALL the meanings of this word, let MW on-line explain it:

Main Entry: the·o·ry
Function: noun
1 : the analysis of a set of facts in their relation to one another
2 : abstract thought : SPECULATION
3 : the general or abstract principles of a body of fact, a science, or an art <music theory>
4 a : a belief, policy, or procedure proposed or followed as the basis of action <her method is based on the theory that all children want to learn> b : an ideal or hypothetical set of facts, principles, or circumstances -- often used in the phrase in theory <in theory, we have always advocated freedom for all>
5 : a plausible or scientifically acceptable general principle or body of principles offered to explain phenomena <wave theory of light>
6 a : a hypothesis assumed for the sake of argument or investigation b : an unproved assumption : CONJECTURE c : a body of theorems presenting a concise systematic view of a subject <theory of equations>

We are constantly having to point out to theists that in sentences like:

“The murdered girl was last seen alive on Tuesday night. One theory is that, after leaving the nightclub she accepted a lift from a stranger…”

and

“In the early 1900s, Einstein developed his theory of special relativity, which modified Newton’s theory of gravitation.”

..the word theory has more than one meaning. Do we really need to argue about this?

When we talk about evolutionary theory, we are not just SPECULATING or IMAGINING! I know I'm more or less repeating what's already been said but I'm going to say it anyway:

The evidence supporting the evolution of mankind is overwhelming and is accumulating even as we speak. Only a few weeks ago the remains of ancient humans were found in Ethiopia. They are 160,000 years old – the exact age at which our species diverged from its ancestral line. This evidence is tangible: you can see it, touch it, examine it, measure it. You can compare it with evidence dated 500,000 years ago and 100,000 years ago and see the similarities and the differences.

Now give us something to convince us that your god resides somewhere other than in the human imagination.

Hi River,

I'm back. Did you miss me?? A couple of questions.

1) Is the Quran the direct word of Allah spoken word for word through the prophet Muhanmmed?

2)Is it possible for the Quran to be mistaken about anything, even one thing?

yup

1) The Quran is Literally the Word of G-d transmitted word for word by the ArchAngel Gabriel(pbuh) to Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). It is not inspired. However, that does not mean that this literal template that has been transcribed does not have literal and metaphorical implications ( simultaneously)

2)Not to my knowledge. However, it is possible for man to superimpose his concept of ethics and morality based on norms accepted within restricted parameters of his/her respective society and time period onto the Qu'ran. This however, is unacceptable unless backed by reasoning and scripture( i.e Qur'an, Injeel).

RIVER's RESPONSE

I have nothing against Evolution . I do have a problem with those that claim that it is a better, more accurate alternative to Religion. For example , In the Book of Enoch , deformed humans were created by the interbreeding with Man and Jinn ( under Azazel). Now , recent evidence show that Homo Sapiens and Neandertals co-existed as well other species of man. Is the Bible wrong , or is science wrong? probably neither. You must understand that there are other modes of thinking.

I believe I just came across this interesting article Posted by Wayin in Biblical Criticism section. It shows how archaelogy can be used to support religion

http://wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=33168

Hey, just 2 months ago , msnbc.com posted an article titled "Mt. Sinai in Saudi Arabia". It ( the article) somehow mysteriously vanished. It spoke about a team of Scientists under Humphrey in 2002 found Biblical markers for Mt. Sinai in Saudi Arabia rather than Sinai. And in 1997 , a scientist named Ryatt also had came to the same conclusion that Mt. Sinai was really located in Saudi Arabia. This finding, if true, has enormous implications. Both scientists came to the same general conclusion .

Oooooh! Sounds good.
In California a bonbon is a little ball of ice cream less than an inch in diameter that is flat on one side and dipped in chocolate which forms a hard shell. Usually vanilla ice cream and a dark chocolate shell. You are supposed to pop the whole thing in your mouth at once because they are messy. This can easily give you an ice cream headache… but it's well worth the risk.
You should never put an entire chocolate covered bonobo in your mouth. That's just poor manners, and it tends to upset them.

The Quran is Literally the Word of G-d transmitted word for word by the ArchAngel Gabriel(pbuh) to Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

So if some guy walked out of a cave today and said to you,--- "Hey, look what I've got. This handwritten book that I've been working on in the cave since I left my family. Gabriel dictated it to me. He's not just any old angel, you know, he's an Archangel. Cool huh?! And do you know where he heard it? God! Yep, that's right. God told the Archangel Gabriel and the Archangel told me"--- would you believe him? Or would you think he was having delusions?

If the Koran is the uncreated word of Gos passed down word for word through an archangel, then why was the Koran frequently changed at the suggestion of a mere scribe?

One hadith relates how it happened. “On a number of occasions he had, with the prophet’s consent, changed the closing words of verses. For example, when the prophet had said ‘And God is mighty and wise’ (‘aziz, hakim) Abdollah b. Abi Sarh suggested writing down ‘knowing and wise’ (alim, hakim) and the prophet answered that there was no objection. Having observed a succession of changes of this type, Abdollah renounced Islam on the grounds that the revelations, if from God, could not be changed at the prompting of a scribe such as himself. After his apostasy he went to Mecca and joined the Qorayshites.”
