Lightbulb The lack of activity in this forum is probably a good sign.

MadMordigan started a thread called 'sex', and commented that nobody was paying much attention here. Could this lack of activity be taken as a unspoken acceptance by the atheist section on this board that non-Abrahamic religion is indeed not the threat that monotheism clearly is?

Simply for this forum to exist in a place like this without continual provocation form the more hardline skeptics suggests that a small victory has been won. It reflects the reality that the real criminal of the piece is monotheism, not all 'religion'.

I think it's because the non-Abrahamic religionists here rarely tell atheists that they are going to a place of eternal torment if they don't buh-lieve!

Or act as if they'd like nothing better than to set up a theocracy in which those who don't submit to them get turned into second-class citizens or worse.

It's probably indicative of the proportion of Christian apologists compared to apologists of other religions on these boards.

How about going to other web-boards of other religions and inviting people over?

Hmmm, probably more likely to be that most people live in christian countries so that is what they most dislike as that is what they have the most contact with.

It could be that the general sentiment among those of a more rational or "scientistic" bent is not to take religions that emphasize the reality and usefulness of magic and mysticism seriously. That sentiment is even held by some Theists.
I, personally, do not hold that position, and try to take all views, (including "strange" views like solipsism), seriously.

I think its because there haven't been many doctrinal assertions to challenge.

Secondly, many if the "Non-Abrahamic Religions" that have been discussed don't make disctintions and thus they cant be argued against. Its like fighting water by trying a slap it.

Thirdly, I think its generally accepted that many assertions by these religions are just as stupid as Christianity (Example: earth is a goddess bullshit or "we are all one") and thus its hard to argue with people who you agree with.

I think it is because the J-C-I religions are a much noiser more obnoxious target.

All I know is that I am so happy to be moderating this board. I love you guys!

What!! If you don't worship Buddha he'll, he'll uh, uh, will he won't really do anything.
With the exception of some types of Pagan and some older Hindu sects, most of these 'other' religions are not so, shall we say anthropomorhic, and therefore less silly, more philosophical then religious.

Maybe it's because there's no Nomad to stir things up.
