I don't think he's being welcomed by the churches, but that he is picketing them for not hating gays enough. I don't know of any mainstream churches that condone him. The worst thing about Phelps is that he makes Pat Robertson look mainstream.

The "Phelps speaks to raise money for AIDS awareness" drive.I like that idea. Printing up flyers and sign-up sheets for it tomorrow....

A local radio personality wants to do something too. Gonna call him with the idea, and see if he'll put it out in the air....

Got called in to work. Local radio show host Scott Redmong called for a turnout, and it was pretty damn big.

Much wailing and gnashing of teeth over a faux-pas by the Rev...
He had his grandkids out there yelling hate and waving homophobia signs. They looked about 12 and 6 years old. This turned even the ultraconservatives that came to support him off.

All in all, he could say little, as the crowd drowned him out every time his mouth opened.
The media chose to ignore the event outside a blurb in the paper and a report in the CSU paper.

He has become unpopular with even his supporters, and the thing he craves most (media) is ignoring him other than to say "Look, another misguided idiot."
