I'm a bit of a pessimist, so I think he's alive and hiding out in northwest Pakistan, close to the Afghanistan border. It's a fairly lawless area so the Pakistanis or Americans can't get to him.

Until I see the guy on a video tape with an accurate date, I have to believe he's worm food. What better way to rally his supporters than for him to be flashing the bird to the US on a new video tape every few months?
Granted he could be lying low and plotting his next move and all that, but he knows what sells and he knows that silence doesn't. Before 9/11 the guy was a known enemy of the US and supposedly he made tapes after 9/11. So what's the difference now? Maybe he's waiting for a sale at Circuit City so that he can buy one of those really cool DVD camcorders. I know I am.

A few months ago there was a woman (journalist of some sort, IIRC) that said he was dead. On the last tapes we saw of him, he was very thin and appeared, according to her, to be missing his left-arm. She figured he's died from some sort of infection after having his arm amputated in one of them caves after a bombing-raid.

Osama is more useful to Bush alive than dead.

When (not if) Bush needs a boost, he will trot out a body and claim it is Osama.

Until then, he can use (YET ANOTHER) threat of an attack by Osama to deflect attention from the mess in Iraq.

Bush loves crisis.

If he doesn't have one, he'll create one.
