Default What is a fundamentalist?

At the request of Rational BAC I have create this poll. These are Rational's questions (except for #4). Please direct all comments or questions regarding this poll to him.

Starboy

Actually I have run out of ideas. (Will admit that the first 2 were mine)

Anyone else want to add anything else as far as "What is a Fundy"?

You need an "All of the above" vote option.

I couldn't vote.

Fundy: A group of folks in the 20th century who attempted to defend their understandings of Scripture against liberal theology and higher criticism. There was a strong focus on the inerrancy of Scripture, as well as a tendency to read the bible as if it were a modern textbook (e.g., reading poetry like straightforward narrative).

If this is the best definition of a fundy, some of the other options on the poll will get subsumed under this one.

The term, however, should not be disassociated with its historical roots. In particular, a "fundamentalist" was one of those who in the 1920s fought zealously to resist Darwinism and modernism—contra the main-liners. Hence blue laws like prohibition, etc.

Seems to be pretty close between the 1st proposition of "What is a Fundy?" and "All of the above"

Don't know how to research "all of the above" ---so can we come up with a concensus that #1 would work well enough?

Well, that poll changed very quickly to favor #5 down -----------Suspect a bit of a "vast atheist conspiracy" there. Just kidding.

Anyway, I have no idea how to research "all of the above"---so you are still stuck with #1

Nice try though.
