well i can think of two things he might be doing
1) holding his bible in his hands and "rebuking" the daemons of lust all the while foaming at the mouth . . .or 2) Enjoying his own private hypocracy. |

"Martiny's bill specifically exempts women showing their breasts,"
Well at least they are displaying some "common sense". |

Mardi Gras is a time to be wild and sexually free. If you change it or eliminate it's wildness and freedom, you destroy the very meaning of the holiday.

Mardi Gras is intended as a Christian Holiday where people could feast because starting the next day on Ash Wednesday there would be weeks of fasting. This fasting would last untill easter.
This sex and and such ruins the meaning of the holiday. |

I was at Mardi Gras this year...the exposing and wildness was very confined to Bourbon Street. I didn't see any of these things at the parades or private parties. I took my parents as well as my 5 year old niece to several parades and thought it was a great experience for her (she took it upon herself to make friends with those around her by trading beads and dubloons...she charmed everyone!).
Regardless of the original meaning, Mardi Gras is what it is, and as I was staying with a local family in a bed and breakfast, I found out the New Orleanians very much love their holiday and wouldn't change it. Edited to add: I spent time in the gay district and was on Bourbon Street 5 nights in a row including Fat Tuesday night and did not see any actual sex acts. Lots of flashing...but no live sex! I also wanted to take the opportunity to show this pic...niece and hubby on Canal Street following parade This was our favortie vacation so far and I recommend Mardi Gras to anyone! |

I have a problem understanding why this is such a big deal, because one street over on Dauphine, you don't see any of what happens on Bourbon. |
