Gilgamesh a Historical Person?
The BBC is reporting that the tomb of King Gilgamesh may have been found in Iraq. If true, wouldn't his have interesting implications for the oft-encountered argument that Abraham/Moses must be historical because Ur/Sinai existed...?

I don’t see why, Kansas and little dogs exist, doesn’t mean munchkins do. I thought the existence of Ur & Gilgamesh were long accepted as real. Doesn’t mean Gilgamesh really had a wildman companion named Enkidu or that his parents were weird alien Annunaki folks. Gilgamesh is noted for being the first King to come up with the idea that he gets the first crack at all newlywed brides on their honeymoon. |

Since the Noah story is based on the Gilgamesh story, if Gilgamesh actually existed, then isn't that proof that Noah didn't?

Not if Utnapishtim was really Noah. Gilgamesh was probably Nimrod. |

doesn't matter

why would anyone accept an historical Gilgamesh and not historical Jesus? What evidence links Gilgamesh to this tomb? Just a name? Aarthur ws proabbly the name of a real king who was named after the Celtic god. How do you know this guy wasn't just a regualr king named after the mythical character? doesn't matter to me either way, I don't mind mythology in the bible. In case you missed it, read the link on my inspiration thread and find out why. Here it is again: http://www.geocities.com/metacrock20...Models_rev.htm |
