Sorry frostymama, but the ovum did not form anybody but nurtured a sperm that had independent life and was "self aware."

Life in the uterus was exciting at first and became boring when we took on our human nature. It was later, and not until we first opened our eyes, that we began to see images of reality as they became illuminated by the light of common day.

Sounds pretty dull to me and maybe that is why we are talking about it today.

This is more of a problem for those who believe that one's immortal soul has some connection to one's personality. Since personality is clearly dependent on the physical brain (see Phineas Gage), then genetics and environment play a role. But genetics are the result of parents mating (of their own free will) and environment is also dependent on human action. In a world of freely-procreating humans, how can eternally existing souls be grafted onto the brains that are haphazardly created?

Huh? You've lost me, Amos. That is really not hard to do.

Does that mean that everytime you masterbate millions of little babies die and their "souls" go whevever you think human sould go after death??

I thought I would ask an expert on the subject, but unfortunately the fetus doesn't seem to be able to talk. May be I should ask, "If you are self aware... Kick me in the bladder."

....waiting...

Oh, well. That didn't work.

No, I just wanted to point out that the sperm is "self aware" but not the ovum. Like the sperm is self propelled and the ovum just kind of falls down (or up) and "gets done" by the sperm and that is how "they become one."
