Something about the above sentences reminded me of something I learned in psych classes... I think it was projection ??? Alright, sorry about the sarcasm, back to your regularly scheduled programming. |

Mary -
I also forgot to ask in my first post to you, have you and your husband both been "lifelong" atheists or has one (or both) of you "deconverted" (and if so, which one or both of you)? Thanks and I hope you are enjoying your discussions here so far. Lauri *Edited to add that I think you will find some interesting discussion on this topic in the Science and Skepticism forum - you may have to do a search or look through the "back" pages but I know there have been several threads on the subject. |

Does science have all the answers for NDE/OBE? No!
Does science have all the answers for how our bodies function? No! Does science have all the answers to how our senses-brain-mind interface? No! Does science have complete knowledge and understanding of human body chemistry? No! Does science have all the answers to everything in this or any other possible universe? No! Has science helped us to find some of the answers to the questions we ask? Yes! But it starts with verifiable evidence...facts. When newer verifiable evidence becomes available, so do more accurate facts that may well contradict the older facts. That is one of the beautiful and exciting parts of the scientific method of enlightenment. It EVOLVES ever closer to the objective truths. He says.. he has scientifically heard that when you die there are still electronic impluses that are in your brain and that you have one last hallucination to ease you into death. But even at that he also says maybe our consiousness hangs around awhile before it disapates. Hearsay is common, but hardly verifable evidence. Where did he hear/read this scientific claim? Exactly (precisely) what is an "electronic impulse" in the brain? We can see and measure them on paper. Therefore they would appear to conform to the natural world expressions of energy? However, do we then conclude that every form of energy is self-aware? What is a "halluncination?" Exactly how is one originated? What is a dream? Is there a difference between the two? Why? How? I agree with 'christ-on-a-stick'. IMHO, this discussion would be better served in the S&S forum unless you are intentionally seeking supernatural explanations and justifications for your stated experiences. |

The atheist on the other hand will be a living fool, especially the ones who went around noisily asserting how foolish Christians are and presumptiously calling themselves "Christ on a stick." Rad |
