Bible code
Hi guys, just how many of you believe in the fact that there is a scientifical or mathematical approach to the 'code'(predictions) in the bible? I know there is a dozen of books covering on this topic, so I'm just curious of how everyone of you view this, hmmm, crap?

Seriously though - given a long enough text, and accepting ANY 'pattern' that comes out that corresponds to known reality, you can find these types of 'codes' anywhere. Now, if you went in with a LIST of very specific predictions, and required that ALL of that list be contained exactly within the text tested against, and had a sufficient number of these specific predictions, and that they needed to fit a specific letter-gap pattern, and all the preceding proved to be true, then THAT would lead to a strong conclusion that there was in fact a 'code' contained in that text. But if you just look for any 'prediction' that corresponds to reality, you've just allowed yourself a near infinite amount of potential 'hits'. If you further allow just about any letter-gap pattern to be considered to be a 'match', you've just allowed yourself a near infinite amount of potential search spaces. Given these two conditions, it would be amazing if a text of anything more than a few pages didn't contain some of these 'predictions'. Essentially, the "Bible Code" is portraying this search as if it were looking for a needle in a haystack, while not telling you that the haystack is MADE of needles. Cheers, The San Diego Atheist |
