Clearly a fruitcake. But even supposing Satan existed, what was this sort of thing supposed to achieve? I always understood that Satan operated secretly on individuals. Why would he bother about the mayor's proclamation.
This reminds me of how during the Cold War, some local councils in the UK declared themselves to be nuclear-free zones. This didn't change the fact that they were slap-bang in the middle of a nuclear-armed country. Did they suppose that an incoming Soviet missile would say to itself, "Oops, I'm aimed at Coketown and they're nuclear-free. I'd better quickly change direction!"? |

Maybe the mayor was misquoted, and actually banned some guy named Stan.

This reminds me of the movie "Rambo." It'd be cool if Satan showed up and kicked some serious ass.

What is it with Florida these days? Too much sun?
From: www.wfts.com/stories/011215auburndale.shtml Auburndale - A mayoral proclamation that declares "Auburndale for Jesus," has drawn the favor of local pastors but the ire of civil libertarians. Mayor Bill Sterling says the proclamation is just a piece of paper with no authority. However, the American Civil Liberties Union says it is a constitutional violation of the separation of church and state. Tampa lawyer John W. MacKay has threatened to sue the Polk County city of 11,000 residents and the mayor because the proclamation promotes a particular religion -- Christianity. The mayor says he doesn't believe he has violated anybody's civil rights. If a Jewish group or a Muslim group sought a proclamation, they would likewise get it. Sterling said he signed the proclamation at the request of local pastors. |

In a fight I think Satan would kick the mayor's ass.
