Let's try an example: a person assembles a bomb with the full knowledge that it will explode. This person puts the bomb in a subway station. The bomb explodes at rush hour. Is it this person's fault when hundreds of people die? Because, as the bomb's creator, he not only knew it would explode, he knew exactly when it would explode. He knew precisely what the consequences of his actions would be. |

I was in Phuket last November. Sunny sky, white sands, hospitable people--it's the closest thing to Paradise, especially to someone like me, who spends most of his time in winterland.
I was having the time of my life when one of my co-worker started complaining about the tons of work waiting when we got home. Some people can make hell out of Paradise. Paradise, heaven or hell is what you make of your life. Is there a heaven as described in the bible? I don't know and I don't care. This is where I live--I can choose to make heaven or hell out of it. It's totally my choice. A professor once told me: heaven is a state of being. Amen to that. Another friend told me that we'd be nearer heaven on earth, if we discard Heaven in the bible. If we do not discard it, we will always look at this world as a temporal place, we will always be looking for ways to go to heaven; instead of making our little heaven on earth. I do not wholeheartedly subscribe to the idea. I do not believe that once we discard "Heaven", we will automatically create a better world. It will take time and hardwork. However, yes, I believe that it's a start. |
