Default About heaven this time...

I dunno if this has been answered before, but if someone dies and goes to heaven right, are they there the age that they died? However stupid the notion of heaven is, it gets even dumber when it's filled with old people and babies, not that old people and babies are bad or something but babies wouldn't be able to conceive of paradise would they? And if the soul that goes to heaven has no body so no age, then what the hell would the soul be? I'm confused from thinking again...

Question

... and aren't there some religious sects that don't allow things like cremation? This would seem to mean that they believe the body does go to heaven.

And what if you re-marry after losing a spouse? Do you get to spend eternity with both of them in heaven? Wouldn't that be a little awkward?

And what about babies that died at a very young age? Will they speak in heaven? What language? If they don't speak, will it just be "goo goo gaga" for eternity?

These kinds of questions boggle the mind. I think it's pretty clear that the whole concept of an afterlife in heaven collapses like a house of cards when you apply some simple logic.

But don't try telling that to a devout, brainwashed religionist. :banghead:

Hey, Spaz, I thought about posting the same topic at one time, especially after seeing some of these pictures from some earlier research I had done on the Jehovah's Witnesses:

A family petting a lion

Mother and daughter feeding a bear

Technically, this isn't heaven, but the JW vision of an earthly paradise. But since there's no death in paradise, I think the same questions hold.

In the Mother-daughter-bear picture above, which is the mother and which is the daughter? Why? What does great-great-great-grandma look like? What does great-great-great-granddaughter look like?

In the family petting lion picture, is this version of the family from one particular viewpoint, say, the Dad's? What of the little girl's viewpoint, who in life may have died of advanced age and had a huge family of children, grandchildren, etc.? Do people change their appearances from day to day depending on how old they want to be at the moment? Do other people see you differently than you see yourself? Isn't there something illusory, vain, and deceptive about that type of "reality"? Doesn't all that lead to confusion?

Damn, now I'm gonna lose sleep over it tonight.
Thanks, Spaz.

Gravitybow:

According to the pictures you posted, animals exist in heaven. Could it be possible for me to pet a wooly mammoth in heaven, or even better, a Tyrannosaurus Rex?

No danger in all that, there is no death in heaven!

Oh please! These ridiculous pictures are just further evidence that religion is nothing more than wishful thinking in the extreme.

Islamic tradition is a bit more specific about what kind of body one will have in the next world; according to the Hadith collection Sahih Muslim Book 40, Number 6802, one will get a young body that will always be in perfect health.

Also, men will get 100 times the usual sexual potency, meaning that they won't have any trouble humping the harems of houris that they will get. They will also get lots of cute servant boys ...

One does have to credit Islam for featuring such a blatantly obvious pie-in-the-sky Paradise; much of it reflects the wishful thinking of someone living in a desert 1300 years ago:

No extremes of temperature.

Lots and lots of water and gardens.

Milk that does not spoil.

Honey that always stays clear.

Wine that does not intoxicate.

Luscious fruits always available.

The possibility must exists that peace on earth equals heaven and if Paul could be singing in prison he must have had peace on earth. Lets look at it from another way. If some people commit suicide to end their problems while others can be singing in prison "peace on earth" is just a matter of persective. If this is true then why don't we all change our mind when we do have a bad day? . . . or is it maybe true that in heaven it is impossible to get a bad day!

How about if you lose a leg in a car accident? When you get to heaven, will your severed leg be up there waiting for you? Will you have use of two good legs in heaven, or will you still use an artificial leg?
