The sublime game of Go (= Igo, = Wei-Ch'i, = Padok)
Greetings to all those of the lands of the east, followers of the Way and the (other) Way, and all other citizens of our harmonius society.
Anyone here apart from me who plays the sublime game of Go, also called Igo (Japanese), Wei-Ch'i (Chinese) or Padok (Korean)? BTW, it's the oldest board game in the world still extant - theoretically it was developed from a shamanistic fortune-telling method. Supposed to be well over 3,000 years old, though that might well be exaggerated. Regards, The 6-kyu Gurdur P.S. Jesse, I left you a response under the "American Beauty" thread. I have the game in my closet, and my ex tried to get me into it, but I am too much of a Clue girl right now...
Welcome to our board, I hope you stay. It's a little quieter here than other places. (and feel free to explain the differences for the lurkers, who may not know) |

I greet you humbly, O Magistrate(ss) of this district. Truly, it looks far more harmonius than my own humble district of Political Discusions.
What Is "Clue" here, when you say you are a Clue girl? If I may ask. |

The PB board game. We have whittled the rules down to nothing (no dice) and now only pit our bardins aginst each other.
My dad brought me up on chess (I leaned checkers in college) and hearts. I do like role playing, but can't stand the time suck or the fact that all the great players have left town... I want to get to go... sometime soon... in the next deade, maybe... Wanna teach me via email? |

I would be delighted to do so, but learning Go is hard and long, and posssibly very boring......
I can, OTOH, send you a very good small program for learners, where you play against the computer at your own rate; it has tips and help. My email addy's in my profile. BTW, I am playing Go right now over the Internet against someone in Japan |

Also, both @ Jess & Telemachus: if you let me know what cities you're in, I can look up when and where Go clubs meet there

Dang, stupid me. I just sent off 3 Mb to Telemachus when I remembered all I need to do is to put a link here where people can download the program for themselves.
Ah well, Telemachus, sorry; maybe just think of those 3 Mb in your email as karma. Here is a link for people to download the game and tutorial for themselves |
