Missionaries will often go to other countries, often less technically developed, and will in effect ruin a culture for the people who live there. This would be the main one.

In the past there were the conquerer missionaries. I think about the invasion of the Americas by Spanish missionary conquerers. Be converted or be killed.

Then of course there are the christian missionaries who are now on their way to Iraq to convert the unwilling. They will accomplish nothing but to stir additional distrust and hatred.
