Reverend Newdow?
I had a look at Newdow's website.... Apparently, he is your average, run-of-the-mill atheist Reverend.
Here's his bio. And finally here's where he got his reverend title (from the Universal Life Church) [ June 27, 2002: Message edited by: parkdalian ]
|

Newdow will be crucified by the media, I'm afraid.

Actually, Newdow has been kicking butt on every show he is on. The ruling is complete common sense. "Under god" equals religion. The only think the pro-theocracy people have for them is emotion and mob mentality. Sadly, that's probably all they need.
Does anybody remember back to the school prayer case? Were the experts predicting that it would fail also? ~~RvFvS~~ [ June 27, 2002: Message edited by: RufusAtticus ]
|

We have many people on this board with the same reverend credentials. It's basicly an Atheist protest of organized religion. "Reverends" are given a lot of power in our culture and by the government. Who cares if the that chuch is a degree mill? I have yet to see a single atheist claim to be a moral authority because he has a ULC certificate.

Though he has my full support on the pledge issue. Maybe. What people really need to go after him for ,is the annoyingly loud midi music on his site.

From the standpoint of constitutional law the ruling was entirely correct. however, with the current wave of so-called "Patriotism" I'm afraid the ruling is so gossly politically incorrect it will most likely be overturned.
I've not seen the Republicans and Democrats so joined at the hip since the events of 9/11. It is similar to a political candidate declaring themself "Anti-Crime," Who's going to raise the "Pro Crime" gauntlet? |
