Talking Kids 16 and under can earn 10 bucks for memorizing the 10 Commandments!

I wasn't sure where to put this...

From here:
Quote:
Step 1 - Memorize
A child 16 years of age or younger needs to memorize The Ten Commandments. You can print them out from this website. This is an abridge version, but you can find the full text in Exodus, Chapter 20 of the Holy Bible.
Step 2 - Get a Memorization Affidavit
To get this affidavit:
• Print out an Affidavit by clicking the following link:
- Standard HTML Format

• Email Us with your name, address and zip code and we'll send you a Memorization Affidavit
through the U.S. mail.

• Or give us a call at (615) 883-1687.

This Affidavit is filled out with the child's name, address and signature to state they have memorized and recited the Ten Commandments to an authorized witness.

Step 3 - Authorized Witness
The authorized witness can be a pastor, rabbi, church school teacher, elected government official, a qualified candidate for public office or a person authorized by The Ten Commandment Project's staff. The authorized witness also fills out their section of the Affidavit to validate the genuineness of the efforts.

Step 4 - Mail the fully completed Memorization Affidavit to The Ten Commandments Project
On receiving the Affidavit, The Ten Commandments Project mails a personal letter to the child, along with a message to the parents/guardians and the encouragement check of ten dollars.
I guess the whole "eternal life" thing isn't enough of a bribe, so they threw in some extra cash . Maybe some infidel children can earn some lunch money.

Notice that an "elected government official" and "qualified candidate for public office" can be a witness since they're obviously all Xian or Jewish .

this is so pathetic it's painful to look at. it basically states "believe in our One True God (tm ), and we'll send you TEN WHOLE DOLLARS!"

happyboy, disgusted at the believers once more

I like Topane's approach: Get your kid to memorize 'em and rip ten bucks off the True Believers. If I had a child, I'd do this.

Still, it does seem to be a trifle on the nakedly mercenary side of things. What's next? Doing this for adults as well?

Hell, if they'll do it for adults, I'll gladly deprive them of $10! IPU knows I could use it!

I don't have a problem with non religious children memorizing the Ten Commandments. A knowledge of them could presumably help see hypocrisy in the actions of their religious neighbors. It is this hypocrisy that turns many off to religion.

I don't see it so much as buying a childs faith, as much as obtaining an Email address, name and mail address of the recipient. Not worth ten dollars to me to be on those lists!

Yeah, you can teach them both sets of the ten commandments, and as a bonus you can have your child witness to the ten punishments! You can find a handy reference at Positive Atheism!

If anyone wants, I can witness for your child (or you) as I am registered clergy for both the UU and Spiritual Humanism 'churches'. We can negotiate my fee.

Why the 10C's? Or at least the more familiar set of them?

Why not a summary of the Sermon on the Mount?

Only ten dollars? Forget it. I wouldn't sully my pure atheist mind with biblical filth for the mere attraction of such material wealth. Shame on you, Christians!
Should be at least five bucks per commandment. Yeah.

. . . say, does this work overseas?
