I loved the stuff about K-Ar dating here:

http://www.catholicintl.com/epologetics/Genesis.html

Lavas contain excess 40Ar when they erupt, and it isn't all degassed. So if you naively divide 40Ar/K you will get a false, old age. But the 40Ar has to be produced by potassium decay before eruption, which still takes millions of years.

This guy missed the science bus for the past two thousand plus years.

I wonder what the criteria for proof is at this CAI organization. I won't be surprised if it doesn't have the same quality as can be found in the majority of scientific organizations. They'll probably refute every single entry with stupid arguments.

Question

I haven't read the piece but if anyone can show me some evidence that the earth moves, I'd be fascinated. Galileo couldn't prove it and nor could anyone else for a while afterwards.

So I'm interested, does anyone here actually know what the proofs of the heliocentric model are? If a procious school kid said 'prove it' to his science teacher, what demonstration should he give? And can anyone further suggest how Galileo could have proved it to his inquisitors using the resources of his day?

Yours

Relativity would seem to conclude that you could never prove that the Earth moves.

One has the right to claim that the Earth is completely stationary and all other items move in a manner which is equivalent to the Earth moving around a sun, which is moving in a galaxy the is itself moving in a universe that appears to be expanding.

The person making this challange is not looking for science. He's looking for god to come and prove to him.
Science as allmost everyone knows, doesn't deal in absolutes. 99.999999999999% certainty isn't going to do it for this guy.

Look at some of the items sent to him already.
He's even envoked the AEther to fend off one challenge.

It depends what one's allowed to assume and what constitutes movement. I think the existence of coriolis forces on the Earth suggest that it is rotating rather than that it is stationary while the sun orbits it once a day.

Is the acceleration as the earth goes round the sun large enough to detect?

Question

I don't suppose this jerk will accept a set of photos of the solar system from one of NASA's long-flying satellites as proof? <sigh> Why bother? Trying to reason with folks who are committed to their own ignorance is very much like beating your head against a cement wall....
