BTW folks. I'm on my sixth day of taking these EFAs in the quantities suggested in the book.
I honestly believe I am seeing both psychological and physiological improvement. Regards, Chip |

You will notice that I addressed the question to Rick, precisely because of your well-known tendency to interpret everything as part of a hidden, hostile agenda to suppress your odd world-view. Quote:
In point of fact, I was not responding to your post at all. I no longer bother to debunk your nonsense. I was responding to a question and answer sequence about the use of Omega-3 to treat someone's father in law. Galiel, I will leave you to your flaming.
Jasonpiao, for sure, it is possible as the word gets out that the demand may exceed availability even if the energy expenditure and safety of procurement improves. Here's hoping that is not the case. Regards, Chip |

FWIW. Thank you all for your opinions and information.
Galeil, I too am very skeptical of many alt-med claims (especially supplements) which is why I asked Dr. Rick his opinion on whether they were worth a try. My Father in law has lived for over 30 years with the arthritis, and almost died from an intestinal, arterial bleed caused by ibuprofen. I know they have tried everything available from their doctor and then gone to alt sources, such as gold shots, to get him some relief on his "bad days". I am also a bit worried as rheumatoid arthritis and other autoimmune disorders seem to have strong family connections....my husband is almost the same age his dad was when the arthritis began. My best friend's mother has lupus and rheumatoid arthritis, and her sister was just diagnosed with RH...so she feels she is "next". Truthfully I am scared for my loved ones and interested in anything promising. |

It would not be unreasonable for an otherwise healthy person at risk for these illnesses to consider taking n-3 supplements as a possible preventative. Galiel, I am not aware of any reported serious illnesses or fatalities resulting from human consumption of these supplements, though it's certainly possible that the extraordinarily high doses used in some animal studies could have identified such an outcome. I would appreciate any references you might have regarding any serious adverse effects in either human or animal studies or case-reports. Thanks. Rick |

I was reponding to an utterly unprovoked attack, to an utterly inoffensive inquiry I made that wasn't even directed toward him. He accused me of making "allegations" of people "partaking in a conspiracy" and said I had alleged ""potentially fatal" malevolence". Quote:

Ladies and gentlemen, it seems I must once again warn you that this is Science and Skepticism, not Abuse. If you want to insult and flame each other, please take yourselves to Rants, Raves and Preaching. Keep it civil, or I will close down this thread.

Jeremy, did you PM the offending parties (or party) and ask them to remove or change their off subject and personal attacks and warn them that if they didn't you would remove their posts?
I would prefer if this thread was not shut down as I feel it could have much benifit to many and would like to hear their civil discussion as well as have the thread retain relevance and sustain a higher level in the list of topics due to such intelligent discussion. If you feel that locking the thread is the only thing you can do, so be it. Thank you, Chip |
