These people scare me no end
I assume that some else has posted something to this effect before and i simply didnt look hard enough to find it, but thats as maybe. Anywho, I live in a college dorm and one of the RAs (resident advisors) is something of a fundie. I try to be polite and everything but inevitably when he is talking, some religious overtones are presented and not in a way that is generally pleasant. I can stand the fire and brimstone kind of thing, delt with it all my life (trying to convince people it makes no sense) but he went on about how he is convinced that the world is coming to an end (a la the book of revelations) in the very near future. Granted i have been hearing this a lot of late but what really frightened me was that he was eager for it to happen. He was like a little kid waiting for a birthday or something. He was hoping it would happen soon and this was quite shocking to say the least. Shouldn't one DREAD the ending of the world? That was always how i looked at it. Any way i was prowling about the internet and apparetly there is a plethora of people like that (also i guess this is what all those Left Behind books are about, i'm just a bit behind the times here, still hooked on Umberto Eco ) The very idea that these people are eagerly awating the end of the world scares me no end . . . anyone else?

When my grandfather on my mom's side died around the beginning of january I think it was, there was one relative of my mom's that was just incredibly fundified. Almost the whole time I ever heard him talk he was talking about the end of the world and how heaven and hell are real and shit like that, it was kind of annoying. But then, get this, he said that the razor-wire, or barbed, whatever it is, on the top of the fences at area 51 had been reversed in order to keep something in instead of keep something out, and he said that was a sign that the christians were going to be imprisoned. :banghead: I shit you not, he actually said that. I was thinking "wtf are you on?" but of course I couldn't really say that. I guess he doesn't realize that the majority of the population of this country is christian.... :banghead:

Yeah, my husband just told me tonight that it was calculated that at the time of Armageddon, there would only an estimated 56,000 people left in this world to side with Anti-Christ. :banghead: The fundies look forward to the end because 'the blessed hope' will soon be known.:banghead:

It is the function of resentment. People who find this world unjust, despairing, and in general, comprised of what they do not want. The Christian heaven gives them that sort of ego-boost and they certainly look forward to the world's end in order that they become the top of the food chain. It happens most often for those who cannot strive to change "this life" first, to act on their life, so instead they wait for someone else to right their precious wrong, to satisfy their greed (what is more greedy than a Christian heaven, if you want to think about it). In general, people who cannot stand living, much less living with others (infidels) who are better off than they are.
Enough ranting. |

Since the fencing at area 51 has been turned around that they have developed the man-eating tacos that have been planned for years by the government, it's the end of the world, run for your lives! |

Yes we do look forward to the return of Jesus. We don't belong here, Heaven is our true home, Earth is just temporary. This world is sick and we are surrounded by those who deny and hate Jesus. We await Jesus' return so we can leave this evil infested plague of a planet and be with Him. Based on current events and Biblical prophecy, we see Revelation happening before our eyes, so we anticipate Jesus' return to be soon. We don't know for sure when, but we look forward to being united with him for eternity.
Jhn 15:19 If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. |
