I guess that means that I'll have a pre-Thanksgiving tailgate feast in a church parking lot.

I think the counter activity of "party on" is the best thing we can do on that day. Let's all work on sponsoring as major (and news coverage obtaining) party we can on said day. Church parking lots should be used for said party whenever possible.

I wonder how many of the jackasses who voted for this will actually fast that day? Does this mean no fundraising dinners?

If memory serves, fasting is a traditional, time-honored way of inducing hallucinatory delusions. A single day might not be enough to really do it, but then, these yahoos have enough delusions already, don't they?

A lot of these wimpy modern Christians have reinterpreted "fast" to mean "don't eat quite as much as you usually stuff into your face."

As a Christian, I think that prayer and fasting should be done in private and go unmentioned in public life. Therefore, I think that the government is overstepping its authority and threatening to devalue the very faith it hopes to promote. --tibac |

I'm dumbfounded that this passed even with the regime currently taking over.

Congress cranks out these silly non-binding concurrent resolutions by the bushel. Always been that way, always will. Mere frequency doesn't make these pronouncements any easier to stomach, though. This one's especially noxious. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if Bush's 2004 reelection campaign commercials end up sounding a lot like the "Whereas" clauses of S. Con. Res. 155. The resolution itself isn't any better: Quote:
