As a matter of fact, the very existence of evil proves the existence of God. How would we know what evil was unless there was an absolute standard of good that had been built into creation from the very beginning.

Each of us knows what that is, because we have been created in the image of God. However we have problems down here because that image of God is marred by sin.

Does it seem that sometimes God is absent? Yes. Is he? No. On 9-11 he was in the towers and in the pentagon comforting people as they called on him.

Why didn't he stop it? Because he has chosen to give mankind freedom of choice. If he constantly stopped evil, that would take away any freedom of choice that we may have. It would also make people believe in him by default instead of accepting him by faith because they want to have a relationship with him based on love, which he created us for.

I think the scariest part about this is that you believe in this freakin' garbage.

This is a perfect example what happens to someone when they're brainwashed into believing that a fictitional book is true.

If you felt it was 'God's Will' to sit back and physically WATCH the entire torture and murder happen you'd happily do it, huh?

Sorry, but you people make me sick.

thats a question for Jesus. Perhaps you should quit blaming Christians for the fucked up things that happened in your life and place the blame on the few people directly involved.

Does she get to credit actual people for the good things in her life, or does she have to thank Jesus and God for that part?

Well, you must care a little if you're bothering to post to this thread.

It was merely a suggestion for Debbie to place blame accordingly.

So you are agreeing that it's best to look sideways and inward for blame and credit instead of "upward"?

Amy, No need to get your knickers in a snit. You sound angry at me for bringing this up and asking Christians how this can happen, when the bible clearly says prayers will be answered. Spurly believes the prayers that weren't answers were people that prayed for a Santa Claus list, which I found to be an insult to those of us who truly prayed for an anwer. Are you angry because it hits the truth of what is really going on here?

Spurly doesn't appear to have the courage to really face my question head on and it looks like you need to accuse me of something so that you can keep your comfort level. I am not accusing all Christians of what happened to me, most abuse in my life was caused by Christians though. I am sorry that it bothers you but I am not going to go back into denial just for your comfort level. Perhaps you need to try to understand what it is that is really making you uncomfortable and angry about what happened to me, instead of being angry with me for speaking the truth.

Why would I ask Jesus about this ? He never has answered a prayer before why should I believe that now he is going to answer my prayer now. If you are angry about my story why don't YOU ask Jesus why he didn't answer my prayers, perhaps YOU will get the answer as he ignored my pleas. Then please let me know what he says, especially why I wasn't good enough in his eyes to even get some comfort from what I was going through. I would really like to know Amy. Take your anger up with your god, not me.

Default [moderator hat on]

Let's try not to take this too personally, okay?

Debbie T wasn't blaming Christians for what happened in her childhood. She's simply asking the Christians participating in this discussion why Jesus didn't answer her prayers when the Bible (God's Word) says that one need only ask to receive His blessings. I don't see evidence that she blamed anyone but God for not rescuing her from her situation.

Cool your jets.
