NSF Report -- US Science Illiteracy
<a href="http://www.cnn.com/2002/TECH/science/06/15/not.rocket.scientists.ap/index.html" target="_blank">CNN report</a> about how Leno gets his laughs.
The accompanying NSF report is <a href="http://www.nsf.gov/sbe/srs/seind02/toc.htm" target="_blank">here</a>. [ June 16, 2002: Message edited by: Scientiae[retired] ]</p> |

I wasn't too impressed with the questions on the NSF survey. There is supposedly a more reliable report by Jon Miller of Northwestern University that takes into account the wording of the questions. His report, according to CNN, is still dismal. Anyone care to find that report?

Wow! Lots of simultaneous posting on this CNN article! I'm moving this one to <a href="http://iidb.org/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=57&t=000300" target="_blank">RNG's thread</a> : you might also want to look at <a href="http://iidb.org/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=57&t=000302" target="_blank">Rufus's thread.</a>
And yes, I agree that the NSF survey could have used better phrasing, but it's still pretty damn dismal. [ June 16, 2002: Message edited by: Coragyps ]</p> |
