Default Origins of an expression

Does the expression "you'd better believe it" have religious origins?

Actually, I think my mother originated that when she said:

"you're going to get it when your father comes home, and you'd better believe it!"

But I suspect that Cain and Abel heard the same thing from Eve, so maybe there is a religious tie-in somewhere.
