Can anyone think of a single, sound theist argument?
I can't.
So many try to use logic in their arguments, but beyond the most trivial, I can't think of a single sound theist argument. Can anyone else and if so, please post it? (I'm serious, by the way, I really can't come up with a single one; this isn't glib for the sake of being glib) [ July 11, 2002: Message edited by: Koyaanisqatsi ]</p> |

Neither can I, and I'm a Christian In fact, I don't even understand the essence of what comprises an appropriate/sound argument? I think if I was logical, I'd surely be an atheist!

Er... well, if there was even a single *sound* argument for theism, then theism would be true.
Are you sincerely wondering whether someone has a successful proof of theism that they've just been hiding from the world? I guess I don't see the point of the thread. Sorry. Maybe you could clarify it? |

The point of the thread was to find out if anybody has ever found a single sound (meaning logically valid and having all true premises) argument for theism? I thought that was self-evident. The implication of course being that there aren't any and, further, cannot be any, so (as WJ actually, for once, saliently points out--good job, but again, please stop genuflecting, we can see your ass crack), since no such arguments can exist, no theist should ever either refer to logic or, for that matter, have anything at all to do with logic in any fashion as far as their beliefs are concerned, since it does not, can not and will not ever be properly applicable. |
